Visit the highland Quechua-speaking communities of Marcacocha and Huilloq and their inhabitants, direct descendents of the Incas.  You will visit the community textile co-op and market where you will be able to learn about traditional textile techniques and purchase textiles directly from the weavers.   After the textile presentation you will be guided down the valley to the dry lake of Marcacocha and the colonial chapel of the same name.

If you choose, reserve lunch, a traditional “Pachamanca” earth oven meal will be awaiting with lamb, chicken, potatoes, oca, faba beans and yams.  During your return to Ollantaytambo you may decide to visit Pumamarca and hike back to Ollantaytambo.
